🚨 MooGood has launched! Please feel free to visit ‘our cows’ and select the cow you wish to sponsor! 🚨

Where are the farms located?

The farms are all located in Northern Victoria, Australia, and are neighbours to one another!

If you are in Melbourne, and are a sponsor, and would like to visit a cow, we can definitely facilitate this!

Why are we dealing with the farmers directly?

Moogood is not like a traditional sanctuary. We operate to help turn farms away from the beef industry, into completely self sustaining farms, where farmers do not need to kill cows for income.

We understand that this is not how sanctuaries typically work. We have found farmers who are deeply interested in exiting the beef industry, as they do not want to kill cows any longer.

FAQ's

What happens when a cow is sponsored

When a cow is sponsored, she is immediately removed from the beef industry cycle, and lives out on the farm she is currently living on. The reason for this is to not disturb her current life and her friends she has on the farm.

The farmers have signed an agreement that no cows will be involved in the beef industry upon sponsorship.

The farms are located in the suburb of Tooborac in Victoria, Australia.

This is to raise enough money to support the cow entirely. Once the initial sponsorship for a cow comes in, the cow is saved, however we need more than 1 sponsor per cow to give the farmer enough income to support the cows, and provide enough income for their family without the beef industry.

This includes things like vet bills, farming maintenance, food for the cows and general care.

We have agreed with the farmers to match their income with a slight increase, from that they would have originally gotten from the beef industry, to instead save the cows.

As a result of the $0.80 per day sponsorship, this provides enough finances for the farm to operate completely independent of the beef industry.

Currently, we do not have enough sponsors to bring on more farms. We need to save all the current cows, once this is done we can bring more farms on board. We have had chats with plenty of other farms, both in Australia and around the world, giving the opportuntity to save 1000’s of cows from the beef system.

If this happens and we need more sponsors for a cow, we will put the cow back up on the website, and present her / him as an option to sponsor, so we can go back to the cow being fully sponsored.

The farmers we are talking to do not want to be part of the beef industry. They raise the cows, and prefer to keep them alive, rather than sending them to slaughter. As a result it is quite an easy conversation.

The main thing we are doing to assist with the transition is pay them to same amount of money they would have received from the beef industry to ensure that they do not sacrifice personally to do the right thing.

Australia is the 3rd largest exporter of beef globally. We thought this is a great starting point to make a major impact!

Just as life works, the cows end up living a peaceful life, and eventually pass away due to natural causes.

When a cow passes, we hold a funeral for the cow, and the cow is then cremated. Regarding the farmers income, this is then presents the opportunity to introduce more cows to the farm which can then be sponsored.

Yes, the farms in Australia typically operate at 1 cow per acre. The farmers are not allowed to breed more than Australian restrictions allow for total cows per farm size.

In Australia it is law for all cows to be tagged irrespective of if they are cows to be bred for beef, or for keeping alive. The Australian government keeps a nationwide registry of the cows location to ensure they keep control of the cow economy for breeding purposes.

Moogood is registered in Australia, as it has been set up here as the easiest point of contact with farmers and for operation.

CCTV is arriving in the next 3-4 weeks. This will be above the cow’s watering area, so you can watch the cows come up to drink throughout their day.
